Membership Update

Thank you so much to those ladies who have recently signed up for membership - Ceselia, Sue, and Sandy, who we will officially welcome at the Girlfriend Coffee Club meeting on 15th January 2011.  I am also very grateful for the nominations for the committee.  We still have a couple of spots to fill if anyone is contemplating coming on board.  This committee is going to be completely inspirational and a load of fun, if the session I had with Susan Briggs filming her interview re the upcoming Health, Wealth and Happiness seminar is anything to go by.

I encourage you to sort out your membership fees and application before the 15th January so you can be eligible to vote at the meeting and to be able to come on the committee.  We have a constitutional limitation of only six members on our committee, however, we will have sub-committees running for the various events we’re hosting in 2011 if you miss out on the committee but want to get involved.

We will also be launching our online Social Media Mentoring Club on 19 January at 10:00am.  If you are interested in getting involved, you need to let Hayley know.  This club is only available to members of the association and promises to be a fast track for people wanting to learn more about getting themselves or their businesses online.  We already have Mary-Lou Halvorson from Zigma-Video.com and PR Specialist, Sue Papadoulis lined up to run some of our sessions, plus I will be running a few of the sessions focused around the topics of creating Your Brand (personal or business) and How to Network Effectively.   This program will be run using a combination of Skype and Facebook platforms, plus the occasional webinar.

Super looking forward to seeing everyone at the event on 15 January, 2011.  To register for the event, please go here.

Woodvale Girls can Learn to Shine Even Brighter – Community News Group

24/Jun/2010

Eliza-Jane Barnett presents Woodvale Senior High School chaplain Carol Stokes with the cheque for $500.

GIRLS at Woodvale Senior High School are profiting from a $500 donation from Women Can International.

The money will go towards the school’s Shine Girls program, which helps to raise teenage girls’ confidence through personal development, deportment and behavioural training.

WCI founder and chairwoman Hayley Solich said the idea to donate to Shine came from a member whose daughter attended Woodvale and thought it was a valuable program for young women.

“(She) said it was a really, really good program but some of its programs were in need of an upgrade,” Mrs Solich said.

The money was raised through an auction held on International Women’s Day by the WCI where girls as young as seven were invited despite the WCI normally being for women 18 years and older.

Mrs Solich said the WCI aims to help young women “finally take the next step in their journey”.

The Girlfriend Club goes to the Dome Cafe, Midland

I’d like to invite all the women in Perth on Saturday, 3 July 2010, at 2pm to join me for a coffee and chat at the Dome Cafe in Midland.

It’s been a while since we’ve had an event in the Eastern Suburbs and I’m looking forward to catching up with all my girlfriends from the hills area.  Why not join me and catch up with your girlfriends too?

I know we all have such busy lives.  But one thing I am learning is that making time to be with your friends is really important, especially when they are gorgeous girls like the ones that I know and love.

So ask your girlfriends along and join me for a coffee and chat.  Always buzzy, I know we will have a fantastic afternoon.  Let me know if you can come.  I am especially keen to catch up with all those ladies that have been wanting some time with me. :)

It’s important to reflect back, before moving forward…

Find more photos like this on Women Can International

Today as I was going through my computer and cleaning up files – a bit of a deadly boring job – I found some files that I had totally forgotten about and suddenly my heart was inspired, once again, to put my hand to the plough that is Women Can International Inc, my labour of love.

One of these files was a book, a Pictorial History of Women Can International Inc 2007-2008, that I had put together back in 2008 that tells the first year of the association. It was as I watched it in slideshow form that I was once again touched by the vision I had when I started Women Can International Inc.

What touched me most was the faces of the women and I was immediately transported back to each of the events and I was asking myself why did they come and what was so magic about the moment that it always left me so energised?

I think the main thing that I could put my finger on was this sense of excitement about being connected…not just to people we know and already love, but to the wider community.  It was almost like, “Who will I meet today and how will that positively influence my life?”

What I have loved most about the association has been the connections. I have loved every minute of meeting new women and inviting them into my world and have felt privileged to be invited into theirs.  Some of my very best and dearest friends have come via the network and I think my life would have been very much poorer if I had never connected with them.

I’m writing all this to encourage you all, ladies, wherever you are to reach your arms of love and encouragement out to the women around you.  You don’t have to be part of a formal group, like Women Can International Inc to do this.

The concept of the Girlfriend Club came about from my recognising that there were women in all the different aspects of my life – my work buddies, my girlfriends from church life, my extended family, my neighbours – and by bringing them all around the table for a meal I saw the magic that comes from new connections and being connected.  I figured that if I loved them and they loved me, then perhaps they may love each other too and I was completely right.

If you are not in Perth, please take this opportunity to consider hosting a Girlfriend Club in your locality. You don’t have to do anything other than invite the women in your world to meet you for a coffee or a meal or a discussion and get them to bring the women from their worlds too.  The magic is in the moment.  If I could be in your local area I would facilitate the meeting for you but alas I am based here in Perth, so am only able to host local events.  I just hate the thought that there are women all around the world who support us but don’t have the opportunity to experience what we are experiencing.  But it doesn’t have to be this way and if you need support, I am only a SKYPE (Haylesbaby) or FACEBOOK Chat away.:))

I am so looking forward to creating the next chapter of the WCI history…won’t you help me create an inspiring chapter for all.

The Girlfriend Club goes to the Bodhi Tree Cafe 1 May 2010

We are off to the Bodhi Tree Cafe for our next Girlfriend Club event.  We had such a great time there for our last event…lots of lovely new faces to enjoy.

For this Girlfriend Club event I’d like to encourage you to invite some of your family along.  You may have a sister-in-law, a mother, an aunt or the like who would benefit from the opportunity to form some positive connections.

The benefits of attending the Girlfriend Club are:

  • Growing your friendship with myself and the leadership team so we can support you better
  • Getting to service your girlfriend relationships (or relationships with the women in your life)
  • Meeting new women who may be influential in your future
  • Enjoying the ambience of a great cafe and very healthy food

If you’d like to know more about the event, please feel free to call me on 08 9375 2007 or 0404 732 578.  It’s also a great opportunity to have a chat with our Membership Coordinator, Jennifer Crossland, who can help you to make positive connections.

Looking forward to seeing you at the next event or at our Choices Workshop in June.

A new direction…

As many of you will have heard, our website crashed on Boxing Day and we have had to rebuild the site.

We could have got all hot under the collar about such a tragedy, as a lot of work had gone into uploading women’s profiles and posting about our events and all that knowledge and history was lost in an instance.  However, we see this as permission to rebrand, to bring into play our new direction for 2010 and we hope you will embrace the new direction with an open heart and patience as we find our feet again.

We will be featuring members of the Association on the site again, so I would encourage you to take up our free membership offer.  Due to restrictions on our time, only members of the association will be featured.  To sign up now, visit our Members page.

Also, if you have an idea on how we can improve our service of the community or spread the word that we are in operation, please complete our contact form on the Contact Us page.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the Petticoats, Pearls & Princesses themed International Women Can Day on 6 March 2010.
