Sex and the Nitty Gritty
The members of Women Can International Inc are formally invited to attend the High Tea at the Hilton Hotel in celebration of International Gynae Awareness Day.
There are going to be some very interesting speakers including Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi, Professor Jenny McCloskey, and ex-brothel madam Mary-Anne Kenworthy.
There are also going to be some live entertainment with a Burlesque and Cabaret Dance Troupe.
There will also be a fashion parade.
It promises to be a wild afternoon of fun for the ladies. Men are also welcome to attend. I’d love for us to have a table of WCI girls there to celebrate with Kath.
For those that don’t know, Kath Mazzella OAM is one of our members and is a Gynae and Sexual Awareness campaigner, having survived Vulva cancer herself. She has a message that is valid for EVERY woman and I’d love for us to show her our support by attending.
The event is at the Hilton Hotel, so will be a great opportunity to dust off your fancy gear and do a little hob knobbing.
I know there was some talk about Maryanne Kenworthy speaking about how to have an orgasm, but I’m not sure if that topic is going to make it past the gatekeepers, but it will be fun to find out.
If you’d like to come with me, please spread the word and let me know ASAP so I can book a table or two?
Winding up of the Association & Next Girlfriend Club event
I can only assume that you girls are not done with the incorporated status of the Association given that not one member turned up for the Special General Meeting other than myself.
So I guess we are just going to have to continue on, business as usual.
That being the case, our next Girlfriend Club activity is scheduled for Saturday 4 September 2010 and I’m thinking that it might be fun to dine out in the evening instead of having a coffee in the morning.
So if you want to join me for a meal, I will be at the Chatters Restaurant in Morley at 7pm on 4 September 2010. If you plan to come, then I need you to RSVP by Wednesday, 1st September 2010, as I will need to book a table.
Please remember that the whole point of the Girlfriend Club is so that you can connect with YOUR girlfriends, so please invite your girlfriends along. We are all so busy, we need to be smart about our time and catching up with multiple friends in the one sitting really does make sense. Plus you might be surprised at how your friends connect.

Woodvale Girls can Learn to Shine Even Brighter – Community News Group
Eliza-Jane Barnett presents Woodvale Senior High School chaplain Carol Stokes with the cheque for $500.
GIRLS at Woodvale Senior High School are profiting from a $500 donation from Women Can International.
The money will go towards the school’s Shine Girls program, which helps to raise teenage girls’ confidence through personal development, deportment and behavioural training.
WCI founder and chairwoman Hayley Solich said the idea to donate to Shine came from a member whose daughter attended Woodvale and thought it was a valuable program for young women.
“(She) said it was a really, really good program but some of its programs were in need of an upgrade,” Mrs Solich said.
The money was raised through an auction held on International Women’s Day by the WCI where girls as young as seven were invited despite the WCI normally being for women 18 years and older.
Mrs Solich said the WCI aims to help young women “finally take the next step in their journey”.
Wind up of the Association
A Special General Meeting will be held on 7 August, 2010 at 2pm at the Bodhi Tree Cafe in Mt Hawthorn for the special resolution to wind up the association to be moved.
After careful consideration of the legal responsibilities associated with incorporation and the minimal gains for the Association, we have decided it is in everyone’s best interests if we wind up the Incorporated status.
This does not mean the end of Women Can International. Just the end of the legal responsibilities associated with running an incorporated association which are quite cumbersome.
If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact me by filling the email form or giving me a call on 08 9375 2007.
The association will continue to function as usual.
The Girlfriend Club goes to the Dome Cafe, Midland
I’d like to invite all the women in Perth on Saturday, 3 July 2010, at 2pm to join me for a coffee and chat at the Dome Cafe in Midland.
It’s been a while since we’ve had an event in the Eastern Suburbs and I’m looking forward to catching up with all my girlfriends from the hills area. Why not join me and catch up with your girlfriends too?
I know we all have such busy lives. But one thing I am learning is that making time to be with your friends is really important, especially when they are gorgeous girls like the ones that I know and love.
So ask your girlfriends along and join me for a coffee and chat. Always buzzy, I know we will have a fantastic afternoon. Let me know if you can come. I am especially keen to catch up with all those ladies that have been wanting some time with me.

Launch of The Red Tent Woman Network in Perth
As those who know me well will know, I am very supportive of other women’s groups and was recently approached by Ludwina Dautovic from The Red Tent Woman to help her launch her groups in Western Australia.
Given that I am the Chairperson of a fabulous women’s network, I didn’t think it was appropriate for me to host one of the events and join her leadership team, but I do want to support her in her desire to help grow strong business women.
So in this blog post I am giving you all the details if you’re interested in going to either of the events, one in Roleystone and one in Kardinya.
On Friday night 18th June or Saturday afternoon 19th June come and join us for our first ever Red Tent Events in Perth!
(Limited places, so book now!)

Ludwina says…
I am so excited to be launching our ‘new look’ Red Tent Events in Perth on Friday 18th June and Saturday 19th June.
We have been working very hard at getting the new model underway and as a result we now have 10 events running in various states around Australia. In fact, it’s our goal to have 100 nationwide withing 12 months.
You may be wondering what the difference is. Well, many women around Australia have been waiting for The Red Tent to come to their city but it was hard to do with the way we were previously running the events. You see, when hosting events in resturants there is a lot of work that goes into it, a lot of marketing and the cost is high. So we realised we had to do something different.
I went on a roadtrip and had a lot of time to think. My thinking led me to come up with a model that allows growth and expansion by growing a team of leaders who also see the red tent vision. I also realised that the home is where the heart is so why not host them in their homes instead of the resturants.
I know it’s radical and no one in the networking industry is doing it, but if you know me well, I like to do things differently and I like to be a pioneer. Well, it turns out that my ideas reflected the thoughts of many and as a result these events are growing like wildfire. So much in fact, I’m having to slow them down to keep up.
Ciao,
Ludwina xxx
PS – Our events are usually fully booked a week prior so if you plan on attending book now! One more thing… I’m coming to Perth from chilly Melbourne so we can have a chance to meet!
How are they run?
They are run like a normal networking event except they are in the comfort of someones home. We will have the usual components; time to get to know each other, time to learn and grow and time to connect and share.
Because the events are no longer held in the resturants, the cost is minimal, therefore we decided that there would be no cost to attend the event; instead, we ask you to contribute. At each event you will be asked to bring some wine, some food and that’s it. Nice huh? Once you have been to your first event, we will ask you to become a part of our community in an official way. But we’ll tell you more about that on the night.

Real Women… Real Business… Real Connection…
It’s important to reflect back, before moving forward…
Find more photos like this on Women Can International
Today as I was going through my computer and cleaning up files – a bit of a deadly boring job – I found some files that I had totally forgotten about and suddenly my heart was inspired, once again, to put my hand to the plough that is Women Can International Inc, my labour of love.
One of these files was a book, a Pictorial History of Women Can International Inc 2007-2008, that I had put together back in 2008 that tells the first year of the association. It was as I watched it in slideshow form that I was once again touched by the vision I had when I started Women Can International Inc.
What touched me most was the faces of the women and I was immediately transported back to each of the events and I was asking myself why did they come and what was so magic about the moment that it always left me so energised?
I think the main thing that I could put my finger on was this sense of excitement about being connected…not just to people we know and already love, but to the wider community. It was almost like, “Who will I meet today and how will that positively influence my life?”
What I have loved most about the association has been the connections. I have loved every minute of meeting new women and inviting them into my world and have felt privileged to be invited into theirs. Some of my very best and dearest friends have come via the network and I think my life would have been very much poorer if I had never connected with them.
I’m writing all this to encourage you all, ladies, wherever you are to reach your arms of love and encouragement out to the women around you. You don’t have to be part of a formal group, like Women Can International Inc to do this.
The concept of the Girlfriend Club came about from my recognising that there were women in all the different aspects of my life – my work buddies, my girlfriends from church life, my extended family, my neighbours – and by bringing them all around the table for a meal I saw the magic that comes from new connections and being connected. I figured that if I loved them and they loved me, then perhaps they may love each other too and I was completely right.
If you are not in Perth, please take this opportunity to consider hosting a Girlfriend Club in your locality. You don’t have to do anything other than invite the women in your world to meet you for a coffee or a meal or a discussion and get them to bring the women from their worlds too. The magic is in the moment. If I could be in your local area I would facilitate the meeting for you but alas I am based here in Perth, so am only able to host local events. I just hate the thought that there are women all around the world who support us but don’t have the opportunity to experience what we are experiencing. But it doesn’t have to be this way and if you need support, I am only a SKYPE (Haylesbaby) or FACEBOOK Chat away.:))
I am so looking forward to creating the next chapter of the WCI history…won’t you help me create an inspiring chapter for all.

Congratulations to June Kelly on her new role…

Is this the face of the next world Talk Show Host sensation?Or is June Kelly already pulling her hair out at the thought of sharing a couch with a panel of men on the new Internet TV Show, "What Men Think?"? Read on to find out more...
We have greatness in our midst ladies. Move aside, because June Kelly is about to take the internet TV community by storm.
Successful in her audition for the role of the only female host on the new Internet TV show “What Men Think” on Loco TV, June is revelling in the opportunity to control a few men on the couch!
No, she won’t be getting the whips and chains out, instead she will be brow beating them with the questions we are hoping you will all want answered and be willing to watch! While we’re on that, what would you like to know about how a man thinks?
A special invitation is extended to women aged between 25 and 35 years who would like to be in the studio audience for the filming of the episodes on 20 June 2010 between 11:00am and 4:00pm at a studio in Osborne Park. If you’d like to participate contact June to get the finer details.
June would also like the help of the WCI community in formulating some conversation starting questions…they can be as controversial as you like, but please don’t make her blush! Just post your questions as a comment on this page and June will be popping by to read regularly. Let’s give her plenty of fodder for her new endeavour.
Rumour has it that Steve, the Producer, has asked June to dress and act “edgy”. Now what does an “edgy” woman look like? I’d love you to leave a comment if you think you know the answer to that one and can give June some guidance. After all, her first attempts at dressing edgy resulted in her husband banning her from leaving the house dressed like that! I can’t wait to see the new June unmasked and dangerous.
At the end of the day, it should be some great exposure for June as she pursues her dream of becoming a TV Talk Show Host. Move over Oprah, cause our June is coming through! Can’t wait to see her in action. Come along to our Girlfriend Club and find out more on 5 June 2010. See our events tab for more details about the Girlfriend Club event under the Choices Event tab.
Fundraising cheque presented to Woodvale Senior High School…
I am very excited to announce that we were able to donate $500 to the Shine Young Women’s program at Woodvale Senior High School from the money we raised at our Petticoats & Pearls event in March 2010.
As you can see, Eliza Jane Barnett, one of the inspirational young women from Woodvale Senior High School presented the cheque to Carol Stokes, the Chaplain, on behalf of Women Can International Inc. Eliza Jane was very influential in helping us get our event up and running, starring in our promotional video and advertising campaign, so it only seemed fitting that she have the joy of making the presentation.
I love that Women Can International Inc is so community focused and influencing our community through the combined efforts of the women connected to us. Thanks again ladies for all your hard work and to those ladies who connected for the day. Also to our MANY fabulous sponsors…visit our sponsors and let them know where you heard about them! They just were amazing! You all made it a wonderful day and I can’t wait until 2011 when we can run the event again and grow it into something Perth can really look forward to as an annual day out for the ladies.
Just on that note, if you would like to contribute to the next event through serving on the organising committee or donating goods, please pop me an email and I’ll add you to my list which thankfully is already growing!
Some footage of the event coming soon…we’re taking our time to put together a great memory for all who attended.
